The US economy will continue to recover from the massive downturn and post more favourable results in 2010. However, do take extra caution as the US will face an unexpected obstacle during second half of the year.
Factors resulting in obstacle
After a year of intense growth, China’s overheated property market will experience a bubble burst. The bubble burst will adversely affect and lead to several repercussions for both stock and property markets in the Asia region. Countries which are more significantly affected are Hong Kong, Singapore and Taiwan.
According to the policies adopted by US in 2009, the US dollar will continue its declining trend. The weakened dollar will decrease the competitiveness of the world's exports and inturn attract investors to inject funds into the US economy. The policy will also result in a reduction of jobless rate as investors join in the trend to invest in US e.g. manufacturing industry. Pure export countries such as Singapore will likely face fierce competition from the competing mega nation (US) for injection of funds. We can expect the business generated by both Integrated Resorts (RWS and Marina Bay Sands) to only contribute a small percentage of total income stream for Singapore. It is also not likely for Singapore to see continued growth in both IRs.
There will be a major correction for the property market in the second half of 2010.Although the impact of the correction is not as severe as that in the 2008, market performance during the second half of the year will not be as robust as that in experienced in 2009.
Our advice for you is to sell all stocks on hand before the end of first half of 2010. For those who did not manage to off-load their stocks on hand, we advise you to hold them till the end of the year. For those who wish to buy in on any equities, we strongly advise you to hold back and refrain from undertaking in any investments during the second half of2010.
Overall, the impact on the US economy is minimal as the property crisis arising from China property bubble burst will only affect the Asia region. Furthermore, the weak US dollar increases US' export competitiveness, resulting in export growth for the US economy. In2010, the world will also experience more wars, accidents and natural disasters. These include trade wars, man-made disasters as well as wreckage brought about by natural elements.
