20,000 Crore Central Vista Redevelopment - Mungerilal Ke Haseen Sapne? | Analysis on The Deshbhakt

Our economy may be in the ICU and our nation may be battling an unprecedented medical / financial emergency...yet the Govt is moving ahead with its ambitious plan to redevelop the capital's Central Vista area. The project, which will be executed by HCP designs, includes construction of a new triangular Parliament building next to the existing one, common Central Secretariat and revamping of the 3-km-long Rajpath — from Rashtrapati Bhavan to India Gate. It also proposes a new PM residence at Rajpath. Many existing heritage buildings are expected to be demolished soon - so that the new central vista is ready by the time India celebrates its 75th Independence Day. Under normal circumstances and with a growing economy - this may have been acceptable and even welcome...but with Govt. coffers running on empty and economy touching historic lows - this vanity project is a poor joke on people who are struggling to make ends meet!
